"I feel my paintings represent more than just a likeness of an animal. I try to reflect the personality and complexity of each animal as I experience them in the wild. With my western pieces I try to share a bit of the life, history, and heritage of the American west both past and present."
Born and raised at the base of the Wasatch Mountains in, Utah, Bob gained a respect and appreciation for wildlife and the outdoors. At an early age he developed a love for art and a talent that he pursued throughout his school years. Bob's artistic talents led him into a career in graphic art. In pursuit of his career, he moved to Fort Collins, Colorado near Rocky Mountain National Park, where he lived for over 25 years. He has reciently moved back to Utah and back to his roots. He worked for several years as a graphic artist where, through his unique design ideas, he earned several awards in the sign industry, including first place in the "Signs of the Times National Sign Competition".
Becoming more involved with the wildlife of the Rocky Mountains, and the western way of life, Bob moved away from graphic arts and enhanced his life by dedicating himself to fine arts, focusing on nature and the west. Bob developed an individual and realistic style with pen and ink, and was able to establish himself as prominent Western and Wildlife artist throughout the western United States. In an effort to expand his abilities and constantly working to broaden his talents, Bob began to work with watercolor and other mediums. Drawing on his background and experience with the values and detail of pen and ink, he has developed a unique style and technique with watercolor. His ability to use this technique enables him to share his passion for nature and the American West with us through his refreshing and innovative artwork.
Bob uses his first hand observations of wildlife in it*s natural setting, his own photo references and his imagination to create his unique artwork.
His pieces have been added to many private collections in the U.S. and Canada, and can be found in galleries and shows throughout the West. Bob was the Custer State Park artist in residence at Sylvan Lake Lodge for the month of June 2007. His works have been showcased in the "Top 40 Wyoming Conservation Stamp Art Competition". several times, Bob was featured in the gallery section of the August 2002 issue of Western Horseman magazine. He has been honored for his donations to various organizations that are dedicated to preservation of our nation's wildlife and habitat. These organizations include the Audubon Society, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, National Wild Turkey Federation, Pheasants Forever and many more.
It is Bob's hope that his works be acquired not only as an investment, but as a way to share with others the experience of the western lifestyle and the spirit of nature and wildlife."
